Sally Albright is a political organizer, communications strategist, and veteran Democratic campaign consultant at Capitol Waterfront Group. She recently earned her Masters Degree in Creative Writing at Saint Leo University. Currently she is attending the Government Affairs Institute at Georgetown University part time while she completes her first novel, based on her experiences working on Capitol Hill in the 1990’s.
While she was finishing graduate school, Sally volunteered as a precinct captain and organizer for President Joe Biden’s campaign and Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC). As a bundler, she raised over $1.2 million for President Biden and several other Democratic campaigns. Prior to graduate school, Sally worked on both of Hillary Clinton’s Presidential Campaigns as an organizer and advance team professional.
Over the years, she has worked on dozens of political campaigns. She was a Fellow for Debbie Mucarsel-Powell for Congress, Field Director for Sue Bell Cobb for Governor, Field Director for Bobby Bright for Senate, Deputy Field Director for David Fried for County Executive, Organizer for Tammy Baldwin for Senate, and an Organizer for both of President Barack Obama’s winning campaigns. As Regional Director for Kay Hagan for Senate, her efforts led to a 27% turnout increase in the largest county in North Carolina. Sally has also managed ballot initiative efforts for Make It Legal Florida, an effort to legalize recreational cannabis, and Colorado for Safe and Clean Energy, an effort to curtail fracking near population centers. In 1996 she won her first and only election as a candidate to be a Convention delegate for President Bill Clinton.
Sally got her start on Capitol Hill as a college intern. After graduation from Hollins University, she began her first job answering phones in the Senate. She went on to serve as Senior Legislative Assistant and Deputy Press Secretary for Congressman Earl Hiliard from Alabama, where she grew up. After six years, Sally left the Hill to be Director of Congressional and Public Relations for the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC), and then as Vice-President of Government Relations at McGuireWoods Consulting.
In 2002, Sally opened Druid City Media and handled public relations for various projects including ShamrockFest, American Freedom Festival, Washington Baseball Club, Dream for a Causer, U.S. Internet Council, All Politics is Local radio, and Millennial Arts Center.
Sally blogs at Sallying.com and hosts the political podcast “Back to Brunch.” She has plans to start a charitable foundation in honor of her late mother Rainer Albright and her dear friend, activist Desi Deschaine, as well as a non-profit to promote voting rights, voter education, and other Democratic Party priorities.
When she isn’t traveling, Sally lives in Washington, D.C. with her three dogs.
